Feb News from Granby Grange No. 5

By David Roberts

  FEBRUARY 5, 2026 --

Granby Grange held its regular monthly meeting via Zoom on Jan.11. During the business session, President Judy Doyle provided updates on the ongoing hall renovation. These included the electrical upgrade project, the oil tank situation, and extensive clean-up work on both levels of the historic hall by Grange and community members. Thanks to these efforts, the hall is looking remarkably updated. President Doyle reported that Granby 4-H, one of our community partners, has asked to become an Associate member of Granby Grange and will submit an application.

Members voted to host a Chili Cookoff on Saturday, March 28, at the Granby Grange Hall from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. There is no fee to enter the contest. Those wishing to attend and sample the chili, cornbread, and beverages may do so for $10, which also allows them to vote for their favorite chili. Please contact Chair Judy Doyle at 503-320-7274 for details.

The 4th Annual Granby Grange Duck Race, chaired by Lecturer Dave Roberts, will take place on Saturday, May 2, at Salmon Brook Park, Pavilion 2, from 12:00 noon to 1:30 PM. This year’s event will feature nearly $2,000 in prizes and a maximum of 700 rubber ducks in the race. It is still only $5 to sponsor one duck or $20 to sponsor five rubber ducks. The first 20 ducks across the finish line will win a prize, as will the last duck to finish. Join us for this family fun-filled event. To sponsor a duck, just contact Dave at Granbydavidroberts@gmail.com or Venmo @David-Roberts-232.

Granby Grange will hold its next meeting on Sunday, February 8, at 2:00 PM.
